Cricut Maker & Quilting

I am so excited to announce that Alicia and I are working with Cricut.  They gave us the new Crciut Maker to use when making our quilts. I am so excited to use this in my future quilting projects. But first I wanted to share with you all the reasons that I wanted a Maker when I already had an Explore Air.

***I am a part of the Sew Cricut team and received my machine for free. There are affiliate links in this post.***

The main reason that I wanted the Maker is because Cricut has designed a new blade for their machine. The Maker has a rotary blade!!! This is a game changer for quilters. The speed and accuracy that the Maker can cut out your quilt is amazing! Accuracy is so important when making a quilt.

There are 3 things that can make or break your quilt: cutting, 1/4″ seam when piecing, and pressing. The Maker eliminates the worry over cutting precise cuts.

I have had a few people ask if you have to cut your fabric down to fit on the matt. The answer is yes and no. The matt is 12″ wide so your fabric can not be any wider than that. Matts come in either 12″ or 24″ long, but, you don’t need to cut your fabric to fit length wise. your fabric can hang off the matt and it will still cut. A way to save time is when you buy your fabric have the quilt shop associate cut them into 1/3 yard cuts.

The rotary blade on this machine is super sharp. Since the blade is so small they have made a case that makes the switching of the blade a snap. Cricut’s YouTube channel has a quick video on how to change it.

Cricut has teamed up with Simplicity and Riley Blake to provide us with some great patterns for us to make using our Maker’s. I am so excited for all the quilt kits that Riley Blake is releasing to go along with the quilt patterns designed for the Maker.

The Maker can cut all the materials that your Explore Air can cut but with the addition of the rotary blade it is easier to cut fabric such as cottons.

I am so excited that Cricut is looking to the quilting industry to design new products. They are revolutionizing the quilting world. I cant wait to share some more fun projects using the rotary blade on the machine.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
